I sometimes turn my ipod on to "shuffle songs" while I am at work and then listen with one earphone (so I can answer the phone with the other if it rings). Well today I did just that and heard the following song. It's amazing how you can hear the same song you have been listening to for years, but it sounds like its the first time you've heard it. This song by Casting Crowns follows the account in Matthew 12:22 when a man was full of demons....until he met Jesus. I see a great picture in this song of where our lives are before we accept Christ, and where we are after we give our all to Him. The question for everyone is "Do you want to be free?" John 8:26 says, "So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed." Truly free! Romans 8:1-2 says, "Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death."
Set Me Free - By Casting Crowns
It hasn't always been this way
I remember brighter days
Before the dark ones came
Stole my mind
Wrapped my soul in chains
Now I live among the dead
Fighting voices in my head
Hoping someone hears me crying in the night
And carries me away
Set me free of the chains holding me
Is anybody out there hearing me?
Set me free
Morning breaks another day
Finds me crying in the rain
All alone with my demons I am
Who is this man that comes my way?
The dark ones shriek
They scream His name
Is this the One they say will set the captives free?
Jesus, rescue me
As the God man passes by
He looks straight through my eyes
And darkness cannot hide
Do you want to be free?
Lift your chains
I hold the key
All power on Heav'n and Earth belong to me
You are free
You are free
You are free
So, once we have been set free, stand firm! Galatians 5:1 tells us "It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. " How do you do this? Verse 16 of that same chapter says, "So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature."
Are you free? If the Son of Man sets you free, you will be free indeed!

It is by the Wonderful Grace of God that we are saved! I am so thankful to Him for that Salvation! I can not even imagine living in this world today, with all that is going on, and not have Him in my life, giving me the reason to Stand Firm in my Belief's and walk in the Light of His Marvelous Grace!
ReplyDeleteIt breaks my heart, the people in my life, people I truly care for that don't even have a clue of the Trueness of His Love and His Word! I pray that they will come to know Him before it is eternally too late!
